Product details
Traditionally, Tirupati, a city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, is known for its temple, the Venkateswara Temple. One of the most well-known and treasured items sold at the temple is a piece of cloth known as a Tirumala Thirupati Dhoti. This is an incredibly detailed and intricate piece of work that is embroidered with gold and silver thread. In the traditional style, it is believed that the more time and effort that is put into creating the dhoti, the more spiritually powerful it becomes. It is said that if a piece of cloth is woven with great devotion, it will protect the wearer from injury.
The process of creating a Tirumala Thirupati Dhoti takes an entire day. The entire process starts with making a loom from the wood of a sacred tree. This wood is then dried for three years before it is used for weaving. After this process, two strips of cotton are cut and the threads are dyed before being spun into thread and weaved together. Finally, the cloth is embroidered with gold and silver thread.
